Contemporary designer fashion with a casual character.
AMI PARIS was founded in 2011 by Parisian designer Alexandre Mattiussi. "Ami" is the French word for friend and perfectly embodies the idea behind the label. Together with his team and his friends, the designer creates season after season just what he feels like. The fact that Mattiussi can rely on his good feeling is also due to his impressive CV. In his early 20s, Mattiussi worked for Dior and designed T-shirts for his own label on the side, but had to give it up at the age of 24 when he became first assistant at Givenchy and accompanied Riccardo Tisci's collections. Nevertheless, he also left Givenchy, as the fashion did not match his idea of down-to-earth menswear. He switched to Marc Jacobs, whose fashion is comparatively wearable. However, he was not happy there either as he preferred to design fashion that he could afford on his own salary. So the idea came to design wearable designer fashion at affordable prices. With his concept he serves a market segment that had been completely missing in the 2010s. The so-called contemporary labels, to which AMI belongs, place themselves in the mid-price segment and stand for high-quality designer fashion.
