The heart of the traditional costume is the lederhosen - made from high-quality deerskin and with a perfect fit, they are a purchase for the ages. The rest of the traditional outfit is put together around the lederhosen, where the fit, materials and workmanship are important.
The change in traditional costume fashion can only be observed in small nuances. Modern traditional costume is based on historical or regional models and reinterprets some elements in a contemporary way.
The general trend in 2025 is towards lighter-colored lederhosen and slip-on shirts as well as shirts with stand-up collars and tucks. The colors of the shirts are classic: white, light blue and striped.
Leather trousers made from deerskin or goatskin form the basis of every traditional look. My tip for buying them: look for high quality and a first-class fit and try out traditional codes.
